Carlos Pellicer

Carlos is a Co-Founder and Partner of Vidavo Ventures. An agribusiness entrepreneur for thirty years, Carlos is keenly interested in technologies that transform how farmers do business. A fourth-generation coffee farmer, he is passionate about sustainable agriculture, believing it is crucial to the future of our world’s ecosystems. Carlos’s boundless enthusiasm and hands-on experience make him ideally positioned to help Vidavo’s portfolio companies clearly define their purpose, ambitions, and strategic agendas.

Carlos's Story

Before founding Vidavo, Carlos was Chief Operating Officer of UPL, Ltd., a global provider of sustainable agricultural solutions with annual revenues exceeding $6B. Carlos first joined UPL in 2011 when the company he founded and led, DVA Agro Brazil, was acquired. Following UPL’s acquisition of Arysta LifeScience in 2018, Carlos led the global integration efforts, where he transformed UPL into the agile and purpose-driven company it is today. He also created a new division, Natural Plant Protection (NPP), which has become the world’s largest biosolutions portfolio and platform explicitly dedicated to the innovation of natural and biologically-derived agricultural inputs and sustainable solutions.

Earlier in his career, Carlos held various leading roles at Stauffer Chemical, DuPont, American Cyanamid, FMC, Monsanto, and Citibank. Carlos has invested in two solar power energy plants in Brazil. Carlos also founded ZERO SUMMIT in 2019, an annual gathering of world leaders to discuss a net zero carbon future, and sits on the board of Sinagro and OpenAg Farm.

Carlos also remains an active farmer, closely involved in producing high-quality coffee at his family’s farm in Brazil.

Based in London, Carlos holds a BS in Agricultural Engineering from UNESP, a postgraduate degree in Agrochemicals from Federal University of Viçosa, and will complete Harvard’s Owner/President Management program in 2023.
